Meeting with CIDB’s Top Management
Date: 6 January 2025
The MAFM Committee paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chief Executive of CIDB, Puan Zainora Zainal. We also took the opportunity to have a meeting with CIDB’s Top Management which is held quite regularly for us to highlight to CIDB current issues affecting the FM Industry and to get their feedback on these issues. During this meeting, 11 issues were discussed. Most of it was to get an update on issues which we have raised with CIDB before. We did bring up a couple of new issues to get CIDB’s initial response. This close working relationship between CIDB and MAFM has mutually benefitted both parties. This bodes well for the FM Industry going forward.
Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards Night organized by CIDB

Our Secretary, P. Tamilwanan, attended this Event on behalf of MAFM. For the members information, MAFM has submitted its proposal to CIDB on 26 Apr 2024 requesting for the Awards to have a category for Facilities Management from 2025 onwards.
Seminar to Reenergize Facilities Management organized by CIDB in conjunction with ICW 2024

MAFM assisted CIDB in organizing this Seminar. The Luminary Guest Speaker was Mr. Stan Mitchell, Chairman & CEO of Key Facilities Management, UK. There were two Forums held on Current FM Best Practices and the Evolution of Healthcare Facilities Services in Malaysia. The panellists and moderators were subject matter experts from Malaysia. The Seminar was officiated by KSU KKR and attended by 300 participants.
Engagement Sessions with Stakeholders on FM Standards organized by CIDB in conjunction with ICW 2024
Date: 22 – 23 October 2024
MAFM assisted CIDB in organizing 3 engagement sessions with FM Stakeholders representing the asset owners, FM service providers and policy makers from the Government. The objective of the Engagement Sessions were to obtain feedback from the stakeholders on CIDB’s initiative to develop FM Standards to enhance service delivery. The context of developing these FM Standards was provided by CIDB’s Deputy CEO, Puan Zainora and Chairman & CEO of Key Facilities Management, Mr Stan Mitchell from UK.

Asset Management Roundtable Series organized by MAPMA

This Program was launched by the Deputy Works Minister, YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan. A roundtable discussion was held on the theme “Shaping the future of our Highways”. MAFM was represented by our President, Dato’ Sri Zohari and our Treasurer, Mr Mohd Farihan.
Public Lecture by Adjunct. Prof. Mohammad Shahrizal

Our Deputy President, Mr Mohammad Shahrizal, was appointed as an Adjunct Professor by UTM early this year. This public lecture is part of his obligation as an Adjunct Professor. He gave a lecture on “Building an Agile Organisation” on a hybrid mode to a group of participants who were students, academicians and FM Practitioners.
MAFM’s 4th Facilities Management Asia Conference (FMAC 2024)
Date: 27 – 29 May 2024
The 4th FMAC 2024 with the theme “Embracing ESG to future proof the FM Industry” was officiated by YB Tuan Ir. Ts. Mohamad Fazli Bin Mohamad Salleh, the Chairman for Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communication Committee for Johor. This Conference was also held in conjunction with the World FM Day 2024. The Conference was well attended by 333 participants. There were 5 sponsors and 15 exhibitors. There was positive feedback from the participants as the theme was very timely for the FM Industry. The choice of the topics was comprehensive and the speakers and panellist were excellent in their delivery.
Townhall Meeting
Date: 21 February 2024
This Meeting was organized in conjunction with our 17th AGM. The Townhall Meeting with the theme “Facilities Management Industry Trend and Future Directions” was officiated by Deputy Works Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan. This was followed by a Panel Discussion on the above mentioned theme by Subject Matter Experts representing both the public and private sector. The Townhall was attended by 80 participants who were enlightened with key takeaways for their strategic planning for the year.
17th AGM
Date: 21 February 2024
This was MAFM’s Annual General Meeting for 2024 which had to be held before 31 Mar 2024. This was a non-election year. The Annual Report including the Financial Statements and proposed motions were presented and approved by the members. The AGM was attended by 43 members.
Courtesy Call on YB Deputy Minister of Works

MAFM’s courtesy call on YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan who got transferred as Deputy Minister of Works in Dec 2023. We are very grateful that we got to meet with him in his early days in the Works Ministry as what we shared with him especially on Life Cycle Costing made perfect sense since he was previously in the Ministry of Finance considering and approving fund allocations amongst others for facilities management. We must have made a good impression as YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan agreed to officiate MAFM’s Townhall Meeting scheduled on 21 Feb 2024.
Courtesy Call on the CEO of UTMSPACE

MAFM’s courtesy call on Ts. Dr. Nazri Ali, CEO of UTMSPACE was to discuss on the on-going Professional Master in FM Program conducted by UTMSPACE in collaboration with MAFM. The Program is into its 4th year and has got a decent enrolment with a GLC signing up as a corporate client. The discussion also touched on other possible Programs that UTMSPACE can collaborate with MAFM. We also talked about the upcoming 4th FMAC and the possible assistance that could be provided by UTMSPACE.

This was a courtesy call to get acquainted with YBrs. Tuan Sr Mohd Zaid Zakaria who was promoted as the Chief Executive of CIDB since 1 Sept 2023. We took the opportunity to get an update on issues related to FM stakeholders with CIDB which we have highlighted in our meeting with CIDB in 2022 and we did bring up some latest issues and our proposed solutions.
Meeting with Chief Secretary of Ministry of Works

This was a courtesy call to get acquainted with Y. Bhg. Datuk Seri Hj. Hasnol Zam Zam Bin Hj. Ahmad who has helmed the Chief Secretary of Ministry of Works position since xx yyy 2023. We took the opportunity to introduce MAFM to him and also to highlight issues related to the FM Industry and our proposals to manage these issues.
Review of MAFM Roadmap

The current Roadmap was developed in 2015 and it was timely to review it. A workshop was held with participants representing the industry attending it. The revised Roadmap is currently being drafted and once endorsed by the Committee, it will be published via this Website.
World FM Day
Date: 10 May 2023

Venue: UTM Hotel & Residences, Jalan Maktab, Kuala Lumpur
MAFM has decided to have an event every year to commemorate the World FM Day that is held globally on the second Wednesday in May every year. In line with the theme this year, “Making a real difference”, a Forum was held in a hybrid mode. Four experienced local speakers presented papers related to FM subject matters that would make a real difference. The Forum was well attended with 39 participants present physically and 65 participants attending virtually.
MAFM’s 16th AGM
Date: 18 Mar 2023
Time: 10.00 am – 12.30 pm
Venue: UTMSPACE, Jalan Maktab, Kuala Lumpur
The AGM was held in compliance with Clause 7 (3) of the Constitution which states that the AGM must be held before 31 Mar every year. The AGM was held in a hybrid mode with 23 members attending physically and 30 participants attending virtually which met the quorum. It was an election year and the new office bearers were elected for 2023 – 2025.
MAFM's 3rd Facilities Management Asia Conference (FMAC 2022)
Date: 13 – 14 December 2022
Venue: Le Meridien Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
The theme of the 3rd FMAC was “IR 4.0 in the New Normal: The Future of Facilities Management”. It was a hybrid conference with 157 participants attending physically and 53 participants attending virtually. There were 12 eminent speakers who presented their topics related to the impact of digital transformation, climate change and the pandemic on the facilities management industry and its future. There was also an academia session involving presentations by students from the region.
